I'd Like To Become A Big

To become a big, you must be at least 21 years of age. There is a one-year commitment required; however, an active match lasts on average three years. You may wonder, though, how you could possibly fit a Little into your hectic schedule, but a great way around that is to include your Little in some of your regular activities, such as: exercising, watching sports, listening to music, walking/hiking, riding bikes and more. Outings take place at least twice per month and group activities are planned periodically.

Bigs are required to fill out an application and provide three, non-family, references.

You make a big impact
When you become a Big Brother or Sister, you help a child or teen become a better person. Through your friendship, guidance and just being a positive role model, you can help a child or teen build self esteem. Research confirms that a child's capacity to cope with a variety of life transitions and adversities is enhanced through a relationship with an adult friend.

A perfect match
We devote considerable effort to create a relationship between a Big and a Little that is sure to last. Before a match is made, we screen all Bigs and Littles and consider your interest and talents when making a match. After you're matched, we will provide support to make your experience the best it can be.

Did you know that Littles who regularly see their Bigs are:

  • 46 percent less likely to begin using illegal drugs
  • 27 percent less likely to begin using alcohol
  • 52 percent less likely to skip school
  • 35 percent less likely to become aggressive when angry
